that, there is nothing in the C&R about house nburems on mailboxes; however, there is a requirement to maintain our properties, including mailboxes, “… in a neat and attractive manner” (paragraph 10.3 of the Covenants and Restrictions). The U.S. Postal Service has guidelines that include placing house nburems on your mailbox. If you are interested in the USPS guidelines, please visit their website at: The bottom line: please maintain your property so we can all be proud to live in our community and have others visit our community. Thanks!FLV HOA BoD

I live in Western Montana & my back yard backs up to the forest. When I was a child, I thgouht that all forest fires were the result of people lighting cigaretes & throwing them out of a car window, & I also thgouht that they were started by camp fires & careless people. I imagine that in Israel kids believe that they are started by terrorists shooting missiles into Israel from Lebanon [which is true!] But where I live, I have since learned that in this part of the world 99% of all forest fires are started by lightening. When the forest is thinned out & the lower branches cut off the trees, the forest often survives better when lightening strikes. In the natural, wild pine trees often spring up from seedlings that look like over crowed bunches of spindly weeds in the garden, & for their own health they need to be thinned.People around here cut down Christmas trees, but its not any big deal to the forest. It actually helps it.

Mitzi I can answer this beuscae my family lives down there! You are outside of my color planting schedule by about a month. The trick is, Las Vegas gets so hot in the summer, but you can grow almost all winter long. My book is really for a spring-summer-fall planting schedule. The dates I offer might work for you and others who live in warmer climates, but really have a spring-summer and a fall-winter season. I am very aware of your needs, and it’s on my list of things to research and write about. But honestly, I can’t speak from experience, only from my research. I encourage you to contact your local extension service ( for a recommended planting schedule.
